Medical students from the Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro medical programme have finally reunited with their families after five years.
Celebrations echoed in the terminals of OR Tambo International on Monday morning.This year their return was delayed when the health department allegedly didn’t pay their stipend for two months. This led to some students even selling their belongings to survive.
The medical students wheeled their bags and their lives back into South Africa once more.Medical students from the Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro medical programme have finally reunited with their families after five years but their journey doesn't end here. They have to still study for a further 18 months in SA.
