Houston pastor describes Sen. Tim Scott as ideal presidential candidate at Sunday service

Pastor Ed Young heads for shuttle buses at Second Baptist Church campus to attend Former First Lady Barbara Bush's funeral Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Houston. U.S. Senator Tim Scott was the guest speaker at a Second Baptist Church Sunday service, during which Rev. Ed Young hailed Scott as the best candidate for president.

Scott spoke at the main campus on Woodway, but the speech was broadcast live on the Internet and to all Second Baptist locations.

Young said of the ideal presidential candidate:"We want someone who is brilliant and humble. Someone who's had political experience, locally statewide. It'd be ideal if they'd been a member of the House of Representatives. And then if they also would have been a part of the United States Senate, that would certainly help. And then I thought, 'We need someone who is a good communicator. And is a Baptist preacher in disguise as a U.S. senator.

Scott served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2009-2011. He served in Congress from 2011-2013, and he's served as U.S. senator since 2013.
