Footage of Seattle Public Schools teacher Ian Golash 's remarks went viral on social media earlier this month. The Seattle Public Schools teacher under fire for saying what happened to Israel on Oct. 7 was "justified" is on paid administrative leave , his father told Crisis in the Classroom Tuesday.
Golash's father, Mike, told CITC Tuesday his son was placed on paid administrative leave for the remainder of the spring semester and was instructed not to speak with any SPS teachers or students. Mike feels the handling of the matter is a violation of Ian's First Amendment rights, asserting his son does not "support" Hamas.
CITC has requested an interview with Ian, but has not heard back. When asked to confirm the teacher's leave, SPS said it is "looking into the matter" and will not discuss "personnel matters related to this topic" during its review.
