The Seattle Seahawks are making adjustments to their coaching staff for the upcoming season. While the team will retain head coach Mike Macdonald, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has been dismissed. More changes are possible as the offseason progresses.

Unlike last offseason, the Seattle Seahawks will not be looking for a new head coach. However, the second season under head coach Mike Macdonald will see some tweaks to his coaching staff, as evidenced by the immediate decision to fire offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. There may be others who were fired as the end-of-season assessment continues, but Grubb was the starting point. This is Field Gulls’ offseason tracker of any coaching staff changes.

Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak: Hired on January 26.

Despite numerous attempts to bolster the unit through various strategies, including defensive tackle conversions, low-cost free agent signings, and early draft picks, the Seahawks have consistently struggled to protect their quarterbacks. This persistent weakness has been attributed, in part, to a lack of financial investment in the offensive line position group, with Seattle ranking near the bottom of the league in cap dollars allocated to the unit under general manager John Schneider. Adding another layer to the complexity, one of the most successful free agent offensive linemen acquired by Schneider during his tenure, Mike Iupati, has recently transitioned into coaching, accepting a position with the University of Washington. Iupati's appointment marks his first full-time coaching role since retiring from the NFL.
