Seattle police are searching for Richard Sitzlack, a suspect in the murder of a Metro bus driver.
Seattle police are searching for Richard Sitzlack , 53, in connection with the murder of King County Metro bus driver , Michael Yim, who was fatally stabbed on December 18, 2024. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning when Yim was maced, dragged from the bus, and stabbed to death in an alley near University Way Northeast and Northeast 41st Street. Investigators say Sitzlack is transient and known to frequent the University District and downtown Seattle.
The SPD urges the public not to approach Sitzlack and to call 911 immediately if he is seen. Sitzlack was last seen wearing a navy-blue hooded sweatshirt, dark gray/blue jacket, black beanie, yellow backpack, blue camouflage pants, dark sneakers with white soles, and carrying a red shopping bag. Yim's death is the first time in 26 years that a Metro bus driver has been killed on the job. In November 1998, a passenger shot a driver in the head, causing the bus to drive off the Aurora Avenue bridge in Seattle
