Detectives from the Seattle Police Department have identified three suspects in connection with a hate crime incident that occurred outside an LGBTQ bar in Capitol Hill on Feb. 19. The suspects, aged 17, 19, and 24, are accused of yelling anti-gay slurs and shooting "pellets" or water beads at patrons outside the establishment. The incident began around 11:30 p.m. when witnesses reported a vehicle circling the bar located in the 1200 block of East Madison Street.According to witnesses, the occupants of the car were shouting anti-gay slurs at the patrons. The suspects reportedly exited the vehicle, approached the bar on foot, and then returned to the car to continue circling the block. One witness estimated the car returned approximately 10 times over the course of an hour. Seattle police said during the incident, a passenger was seen hanging out of the vehicle window, shooting what were described as "pellets" or water beads at the bar's patrons. One individual reported being struck in the arm by one of the projectiles shortly before 1 a.m., according to police. Witnesses described the vehicle involved as a distinctively modified dark blue Lexus sedan and noted that the suspects appeared to be two or three young white men. Following the incident, officers were dispatched to other LGBTQ establishments in the area to alert them about the situation, according to the SPD.
