A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Seattle’s Rainier Valley neighborhood, Seattle police said.
The boy was arrested on Thursday, after he turned himself in at the South Precinct, Seattle police said. The suspect arrived with a family member at about 7:37 a.m. and was immediately transported to the Homicide Unit before being booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center for investigation of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm, police said.

The shooting happened Saturday night, when dispatchers received reports at about 11:31 p.m. of an accidental shooting inside an apartment in the 6000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, police said. Seattle Fire Department medics transported the teen to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Despite lifesaving efforts by hospital staff, the 17-year-old died from his injuries on Sunday. Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and led the investigation. Detectives identified the 13-year-old as the suspect and later arrested him in connection with the shooting, police said.
