A Seattle man's passion project is picking up steam. This hobby brings people together using a realistic model train town to life and show off the skills from electrical wiring to carpentry.
Image of model train that a Seattle man has and uses as a hobby to spread joy to his neighbors and family. Manny Reale has brought to life a realistic model train town in his yard. He shares this niche hobby with his neighbors nearly every weekend as a way to bring people together and show off the skills from electrical wiring to carpentry.
“It basically looks like a miniature train that’s basically shrunken down into, like, times 10,” said young train enthusiast Edgar Uuganbayer.“It’s really cool to see his elaborate setup with all the trees, all the landscaping he’s done, as well as the engine work,” added parent Cari McCarty.“It’s really cool to get the kids introduced to it in this kind of way and start thinking about what they might want to build when they’re older,” said Amy Juel of Seattle.
“I’m overwhelmed. I had no idea. I grew up near a railroad track in Iowa City, Iowa and I had my own electric train and it was all over the house and I just loved it. Then, I heard about this!” exclaimed neighbor Shirley Nelson.“By building and engineering, learning how they work it gets the kids out of the house and get kids to focus on building and creating, learning to use their imagination,” he explained.
Reale also hopes to being people together through a common interest, including longtime train enthusiasts and newcomers.“If I had not seen it, I would not believe it. This is truly amazing. This is my first time but not my last time,” Nelson said.
