The Texas Rangers have had discussions with the Seattle Mariners' common trade partners the Tampa Bay Rays about Isaac Paredas and Yandy Diaz, per reports.
The Seattle Mariners went out and got a much-needed bat from the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday when they traded for outfielder Randy Arozarena. They followed that up with a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays for right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia.
Count the Rangers among the teams that have had discussions with the Rays about All-Star Isaac Paredes, as well as Yandy Diaz. Texas is looking for an upgrade to its offense, in a year in which Josh Jung and Evan Carter has been out for months.Paredes is hitting .250 this year with 16 home runs and 55 RBIs. Diaz is batting .272 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs.The Rangers rank 18th in team batting average according to ESPN.com.
The Mariners have also been included in rumors for Diaz and Paredes. But the recent trade for Arozarena makes that a lot less likely.
