A man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection to a terrifying shootout on Aurora Avenue North in Seattle earlier this year. The incident involved two suspected pimps engaged in a gun battle while driving, leaving several bystanders fearing for their lives. This arrest comes amidst growing concerns about the escalating violence and criminal activity plaguing Aurora Avenue.

A man has been arrested in connection to a dramatic shootout on Aurora Avenue in Seattle in January, the Seattle Police Department announced. The incident occurred on Friday, January 10th at 12:45 a.m. Security footage captured the terrifying exchange of gunfire between two suspected pimps as they drove down Aurora Avenue North. The footage shows a stolen white Dodge Durango SUV and a gold Volkswagen engaged in a high-speed chase.

The drivers exchanged multiple shots, with the Dodge driver and passenger then pursuing and firing at two unrelated vehicles. At Aurora Avenue and 96th Street, security cameras captured a woman diving for cover as the gunfight erupted. The woman repeatedly sought refuge behind bushes to avoid being struck by stray bullets. This escalating violence highlights the growing concerns about Aurora Avenue North, which has become notorious for gun violence, drug activity, gang presence, sex trafficking, and turf wars between pimps. Police investigators believe that the drivers involved in the shootout were engaged in a violent dispute over territory. Frustrated residents have demanded greater accountability from law enforcement and the city to address the escalating crime rates. Two days after the Aurora Avenue shootout, the same Dodge SUV was involved in another drive-by shooting in front of a south Seattle apartment complex. Police reported that the suspect displayed a handgun and fired four shots into the air before fleeing the scene. On February 3rd, the Seattle Police Department announced the arrest of the suspected driver of the Dodge Durango. The suspect, identified as Jones, has been charged with multiple felonies, including drive-by shooting and unlawful discharge of a firearm. According to court documents, security footage captured Jones intentionally menacing groups of sex workers with the vehicle on January 10th, driving towards them aggressively as if to strike them, between the exchanges of gunfire with the Volkswagen. Jones was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, the Dodge Durango, which was reportedly stolen at gunpoint in Redmond, Washington, in October 2024. The vehicle was used in both shooting incidents, according to the Seattle Police Department's investigation. Seattle Police Department officials stated that the evidence against Jones included surveillance footage and location data placing him at both shooting scenes, as well as social media posts that aided in his identification. Officers arrested Jones at an Auburn apartment, where they discovered a disassembled 10mm handgun and a high-capacity magazine. Jones' previous criminal history includes a conviction for possession of drugs for sale in Arizona in 2022 and a guilty plea for possession of a controlled substance in King County in December 2024. He was awaiting sentencing for the latter charge when the current offenses were committed. The state has requested bail be set at $750,000, citing the likelihood of Jones committing further violent offenses and interfering with the administration of justice. The court is also being asked to impose electronic home monitoring if Jones posts bail and to prohibit him from possessing firearms or coming within 1,000 feet of the Lake Washington Apartments and the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and North 97th Street
