There's a crackdown on food vendors that have been reportedly operating illegally along Alki Beach in Seattle.Seattle-King County Public Health reports it shut

There's a crackdown on food vendors that have been reportedly operating illegally along Alki Beach in Seattle .for selling tacos, hotdogs, and other snacks to beach-goers without a permit. Summertime in West Seattle is a crowded Alki Beach with food carts and kiosks along the boardwalk on weekends.

Public Health shut down seven vendors on June 23 along Alki that do not have a food permit indicating the vendor is trained in and following safe food handling practices to prevent the spread of foodborne illnesses like E.coli, salmonella, and norovirus, according to the health department. “I don’t begrudge those guys, but it’s too many, and they were walling off the beach. I think it kind of got out of control a little bit,” he explained. The non-profit, the Alki Community Council, claims the lack of enforcement has been a problem for years. They've advocated for park rangers to make sure the vendors are following the rules.

“It is Seattle’s number one beach, and people come from all over the world. They should be safe when they eat here, and they need to be safe when they eat here,” Starck said.
