The largest wildfire remains the McDonald Wildfire, which is approaching 50,000 acres.

Wildfire activity across the state has been on the rise, with new wildfires sparked yesterday due to thunderstorms. A dense smoke advisory is still in effect for areas near Fairbanks, as smoke is leading to visibility less than one mile at times. This will cause air quality for Fairbanks and North Pole to fluctuate from unhealthy to moderate.
