CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton has been reported missing, prompting a search conducted by base officials and local law enforcement.Base officials confirmed to ABC 10News that Lance Cpl. Bailey Cameron was initially reported missing on Sunday Aug. 25.ABC 10News spoke with Cameron's mother, Juliana England, on Thursday. 'We’re trying not to feel helpless as much as possible,' said England, who added she last spoke to her son last Saturday.
Cameron's mother says his backpack, eyeglasses and phone were found the next day on the curb outside of Vigilucci’s, an Italian restaurant located about a block away. A manager of the restaurant confirms a staff member found the items on Sunday when they opened and turned them into Carlsbad police. Local law enforcement, hospitals, and military officials are involved in the search, and according to a Camp Pendleton spokesperson, NCIS has also been notified of Cameron’s disappearance.
