Texas authorities continue to search for 8-year-old Clara Robinson, who disappeared in floodwaters after a Christmas Eve car accident. Her father died trying to save her.
Texas crews are entering the 11th day of searches for Oklahoma 8-year-old Clara Robinson, who went missing in floodwaters after a car wreck on Christmas Eve. The morning of Dec. 24, William and Kristen Robinson and their four children were heading to visit relatives when their car hydroplaned off Highway 75 near Sherman in North Texas and into a drainage ditch filled with rushing floodwater, according to police and a GoFundMe launched for the family.
Emergency services received calls around 9:30 a.m. about a car being swept away in a drainage ditch near Houston Street. William Robinson helped the family get out of the car, and first responders were able to stop the vehicle. First responders rescued Kristen Robinson and three of the couple's children, but William Robinson, 36, died trying to rescue 8-year-old Clara. The girl has yet to be located, but authorities continue to reiterate on social media that 'We're Still Here Clara.' On Friday, the 11th day of the search, Sherman police said that mounted crews from the South-East Branch of the Oklahoma Disaster Task Force have joined the efforts. The search team also includes personnel from Sherman Police and Fire Rescue, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Department of Corrections, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Collin County Dive Team, and rescue diver Brady Baskins. A joint ceremony for William and Clara Robinson will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Durant High School Gymnasium in Durant, Oklahoma. A wake will be held from from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fusion Bible Church in Duran
