One person was seen being taken to an ambulance outside of the John W. Harshbarger Building, near East Second Street, following the shooting.
The University of Arizona police on Wednesday afternoon said there was a shooting inside the John W. Harshbarger Building, near East Second Street and North Mountain Avenue.
The campus police put out the alert at 2:17 p.m. and told everyone to stay away from the area. The building houses the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences. A faculty member who was in the building at the time said the shooting took place in a hallway and that he heard seven to 10 gunshots. The faculty member asked not to be identified.
