Combs' trial, which is not imminent, could provide the mogul an opportunity to directly address the charges he faces, but also would subject him to cross-examination.

Combs was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution on Sept. 17 and is currently being held in federal custody awaiting trial after two different judges denied a bail proposal. He has pleaded not guilty.

If Combs does ultimately testify, he would be subject to a potentially damaging cross-examination by prosecutors.“He has his story,” Agnifilo reiterated. “And he has a story, I think, only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real time. And it’s a human story, it's a story of love, it’s a story of hurt, it’s a story of heartbreak.”
