What is next for Sean Bean?

Sean Bean lands a great win in 2026, and the timing couldn't be better for the beloved Hollywood star. Throughout the many roles that Bean has played, the actor has taken on numerous fantasy properties, from The Lord of the Rings to HBO's Game of Thrones.

As his body of work continues to expand, one of his most well-received projects is now surging in the world of streaming. The Robin Hood TV show on MGM+ is now back on the streaming charts in 2026, after the completion of season 1 in 2025. The gritty adaptation of the iconic legend has surged to #3 on the platform in the United States.

The series has also begun to become a worldwide streaming hit for MGM+, as it is trending at #1 in Germany, #6 in Spain, #7 in England, and #8 in Italy. While Bean portrays the Sheriff of Nottingham, the Robin Hood cast is headlined by Jack Patten as the latest incarnation of the titular hero.

Robin Hood season 2, which was greenlit a few months after the season 1 finale aired in December 2025, is officially set to start production this summer at PFI Studios in Serbia. While a release date for season 2 has yet to be announced, it will likely premiere sometime in 2027.

The official Robin Hood season 2 synopsis teases how the series "expands the world beyond Sherwood and Nottingham into the treacherous courts of England, France, and Rome, transforming the outlaw rebellion into a high stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom. As the Angevin empire threatens to tear itself apart, Rob and Marian are drawn into the orbit of kings and queens, forced to wield the very instruments of Norman power -- politics, gold, and betrayal -- to secure a future for the Saxons.

" Robin Hood season 2 also "begins as a fight for survival becomes a reckoning with power itself. Sweeping in scope yet intimate in emotion, Season two deepens the romance, sharpens the rivalries, and reimagines the legend as a prestige drama about love, legacy, and the price of becoming history.

" At the time of this story's publication, Robin Hood season 1 is holding a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while sitting with 80% on the Popcornmeter. The Robin Hood series was created by Jonathan English and John Glenn, with the former being one of the main directors while the latter serves as the showrunner.
