David Boreanaz as Jason looking sad next to Jason with a beard looking serious on SEAL Team

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. Summary SEAL Team star David Boreanaz has revealed that season 7 would have been the last for his character, Jason Hayes, even if the series hadn't been cancelled. SEAL Team season 7 will be the final batch of episodes for the long-running military drama, the show coming to a conclusion after being on the air since 2017.

Speaking with Screen Rant, however, Boreanaz revealed that, even if SEAL Team had continued beyond season 7, this would have been the final batch of episodes where he would portray Jason. The actor explained how the upcoming episodes are a perfect way for his characters' story to end, something he felt was necessary at this point in his development. Check out what Boreanaz had to say below:

I've been playing this character for eight years and seven seasons, which has been the run of the show. I knew going into the season that it would be my last. I waited for this moment to kind of talk about that. For me, personally, I just saw it as a great time for the character to come full circle for what these special operators go through. It made sense because of the characters and his relationship to the teams and Brotherhood, so I was excited to come to that conclusion.

It was something that I had decided before the writers strike had hit, and then the writers strike hit, and things were crazy for a few months, as you know, and then we just decided that was it. I'm excited and humbled that I was able to play a character of this magnitude, but my body thanks me for taking a break and letting this one go.
