The Seahawks and Polamalu have reportedly parted ways.
One month after the Seattle Seahawks announced running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu would take a leave of absence for the remainder of the season, it looks as if he’s not coming back to the team at all.
NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported on Tuesday that Polamalu and the Seahawks have parted ways. Run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach Justin Outten and offensive assistant Michael Byrne assumed Polamalu’s duties as of mid-December. Kennedy Polamalu, the uncle of iconic Hall of Fame NFL safety Troy Polamalu, is a longtime running backs coach in both the pro and collegiate ranks. He was hired by the Seahawks in 2024 and was retained for this season despite fairly significant overhaul following the departure of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Polamalu’s leave of absence was only described as a personal matter at the time. Mike Macdonald is scheduled to speak to the media on Wednesday prior to practice, so we may have some sort of an update or at least a confirmation of Polamalu’s departure by then.
