The Seattle Seahawks have requested an interview with New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Kubiak's tenure with the Saints saw a promising start followed by a decline in offensive performance.
Add another name to the list of offensive coordinator candidates for the Seattle Seahawks . ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak , son of Super Bowl winning coach Gary Kubiak, has been requested for interview by the Seahawks.
The Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen midseason, but the rest of his staff is still under contract until further notice. Kubiak was hired by the Saints as their OC after spending the 2023 season with the San Francisco 49ers as their passing game coordinator. The Saints offense started exceptionally hot by scoring 91 points over their 2-0 start, but as the schedule got tougher and the injuries mounted up at a comical rate, Kubiak’s group descended into one of the league’s worst offenses. New Orleans heavily used play action early in the season but tapered off substantially following Derek Carr’s injury. Interestingly enough, three of Kubiak’s last four coaching jobs have been on doomed coaching staffs. He took over playcalling duties from Nathaniel Hackett in the middle of Russell Wilson’s first season with the Denver Broncos, and the results were not very good. Kubiak was also the OC and playcaller for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, which proved to be the final season of the Mike Zimmer era, and the Vikings had a middling offense by points per game and EPA/play. The other names linked to the Seahawks’ vacant OC job are interim Chicago Bears head coach Thomas Brown and Detroit Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley.
