The Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker is in the headlines for two good reasons on the same day.
It has been a great news day for Uchenna Nwosu. On Wednesday morning, Nwosu was announced as the Seattle Seahawks nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, an honor bestowed to one NFL player each year for his excellence on and off the field. This is the second time in Nwosu’s career that he has been nominated for this honor, the first coming in his second season with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award will be announced three days before the Super Bowl on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025. Nwosu, along with the other 31 team nominees, has already received up to $55,000 to donate to the charity of his choice. If Nwosu wins, that amount will jump to $265,000. The Seahawks have had one Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year winner before, when Russell Wilson won the award back in 2020.
