The Seattle Seahawks have made several roster moves, including waiving cornerback Artie Burns after a short stint on the active roster due to injury. The team is juggling roster spots with the potential return of Stone Forsythe from injured reserve.
The Seattle Seahawks have made moves on the active roster and practice squad that are seemingly unrelated but may be linked. Cornerback Artie Burns was waived on Tuesday, just days after he was activated off injured reserve onto the active roster. Burns had been out of commission since Week 7 with a toe injury, and was inactive for Week 15’s loss to the Green Bay Packers.
After starting the regular season on the practice squad, injuries led to his bump up to the regular season roster, with his only game coming in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle has an open roster spot with Burns’ departure. It should be noted that backup right tackle Stone Forsythe must be activated by Wednesday or else he’ll revert to season-ending IR upon completion of his 21-day practice window. Safety K’Von Wallace is also eligible to return from IR but was not activated last week. Meanwhile, the Seahawks released defensive end DeVere Levelston from the practice squad and made no corresponding move. Most likely, if Burns clears waivers, he’ll return to the practice squad and fill that vacancy
