A look at Mike Sando’s 2024 quarterback rankings
The Athletic’s Mike Sando released the 2024 edition of his annual Quarterback Tiers report . If you haven’t checked it out yet, allow me to spoil the big surprise for you; Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen were the three quarterbacks named in Tier 1. Tier 1 is defined as such: With that said, hard to argue with the Tier 1 selections! Interestingly, Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert were both demoted from their 2023 Tier 1 classification.
Where does our guy rank though? Geno Smith is Tier 3, more specifically, tied with Derek Carr as the 20th ranked quarterback in the National Football League. So what exactly defines Tier 3, anyway? Legitimate starter is correct, but here’s what was written about Geno: Funny enough, I completely agree with that very last sentence. I also don’t feel like we’re going to lose a game because of Geno Smith. Just for fun, let’s take a look at how Tier 2 is defined.
