Injuries have hit the Seattle secondary ahead of an important Week 7 matchup, and now the Seahawks have officially elevated a pair of cornerbacks from the practice squad.
The rookie season of new Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald hasn’t gone the way many fans had dreamed. It started off the right way, with a trio of victories to open the season and giving the Hawks sole possession of first place in the NFC West. However, that early winning streak quickly morphed into a losing streak, as the offense sputtered and the defense failed to stop opponents in dropping contests to the Detroit Lions, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.
To make matter worse, Seattle announced Friday that it would play the game without either Riq Woolen or Tre Brown, leaving the team vulnerable at cornerback, with Devon Witherspoon, Nehemiah Pritchett and Dee Williams as the only healthy cornerbacks on the 53 man roster. Thus, it comes as no surprise that Seattle turned to the practice squad Saturday to add depth at the position. Josh Jobe entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama in 2022, signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
