A seagull snatched a beloved chihuahua from its owner's garden, leaving the family devastated. Despite a desperate social media appeal, the dog was not found. A leg bone believed to belong to the dog was discovered six miles away.
A pet owner's beloved dog was snatched from her garden by a seagull who flew off with the pup in its beak.
She said the incident had left her daughter - who was six at the time - equally as upset. She said at the time: "My partner was in the garden putting the washing out at the time and suddenly he saw it swoop down. It carried Gizmo a fair way as we couldn't see him anymore. I have no idea if he was dropped or where he is now."
Natalie said of the discovery: "I found what can only be described as a mammal's leg on a fire escape at the back. I straight away thought of Gizmo as it looks like it belongs to a dog. I really hope I'm wrong." Following Gizmo's disappearance, the RSPCA issued urgent advice for owners of small dogs to keep them on leads, especially during the summer months when mother gulls become very protective of their young.
