Denmark's justice ministry has decided not to extradite Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson to Japan after he was arrested on an international warrant in 2012. Mr Watson was accused of causing damage to a Japanese whaling ship and injuring a crew member in 2010. The ministry cited the length of time since the alleged incident and the nature of the charges in its decision.
Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson has been in detention in Greenland since July. Paul Watson was arrested in Greenland in July on a Japan ese arrest warrant dating back to 2014. Japan ese authorities accuse Mr Watson of injuring a crew member of a Japan ese vessel in 2010 while trying to disrupt a whaling operation. Mr Watson is a free man, but an international arrest warrant and red notice are still in effect.
