At first, HPD thought the baby was dropped outside of a random home, but now there might be a bigger connection. ABC13 learned more about the mom-on-the-run and the shocking evidence, including text messages and her criminal history.
Eyewitness News at 10 p.m. brought breaking news in a child abandonment case. A woman who may be the tot's mother has been charged. The Houston Police Department believes Loretta Norwood is the infant's mother, and now she's facing a felony charge of abandoning a child.Although the documents are public record, a spokesperson told ABC13 investigators don't want anything else released because they are trying to find Norwood.
New court documents show the baby's possible father called the police, telling investigators that Norwood texted him that night at about 12:50 a.m. He told investigators he didn't see his phone until the morning. It's unclear if the woman in the home where the baby was found was the man's mother. The baby boy, who police said is about nine months old, was released from the hospital last week and is now in foster care.
