Over 100,000 gallons of wastewater spilled out of a southeast Austin manhole into Williamson Creek Saturday, according to city officials.
Austin Water said crews responded to the overflow in the ravine behind 2112 E William Cannon Drive. It was caused by grease blockage in the city main.Officials said the overflow did not affect Austin’s drinking water supply, however those using private drinking water supply wells within half a mile of the of the area should boil water before drinking.
The public should avoid contact with waste material, soil, or water in the area potentially affected by the overflow.JOIN THE CONVERSATION (
