San Diego State University (SDSU) continues to strengthen its football program by securing commitments from two key players through the NCAA transfer portal. The Aztecs have added New Mexico State safety Josiah Cox and Howard University offensive lineman Cam May, bringing the total number of new players acquired through the portal to 19.

Cox had more than 100 tackles for the Hornets that season. He received a dozen scholarship offers, including one from SDSU, before choosing Arizona State.He stayed at ASU for one season, then transferred to New Mexico State, where Cox collected 35 tackles and a pair of interceptions for the Aggies.Lincoln coach David Dunn told the Union-Tribune during Cox’s senior season that “he definitely plays with that edge that every football coach loves to have on defense. He doesn’t want to play. He wants to dominate.” Cox will compete in spring practice for a starting spot in an Aztecs secondary that includes three returning starting safeties — Chris Johnson, Eric Butler and Dalesean Staley.May is a 6-8, 310-pound junior from Detroit who played left tackle for Howard. His addition gives the Aztecs four players on the O-line who stand 6-8, joining returners Christian Jones and Joe Borjon and transfer Mason “Yeti” Baker.
