Falcons score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure a 19-15 win over Vikings
Ryan Stadtherr of Scripps Ranch High makes a run during Friday night’s game between Scripps Ranch and La Jolla High School. Using a pair of fourth-quarter drives, Scripps Ranch kept its perfect season alive Friday evening with a 19-15 home victory over La Jolla.
“It was such a long lull of inactivity from our offense,” Falcons head coach Marlon Gardinera said. “I told them at halftime, ‘You can’t limp out of this game like we limped into halftime.’ And they responded.” “It’s a little frustrating to not have a game in two weeks,” Stadtherr said. “We had to stay mentally sharp, physically sharp. We had to make sure we were preparing ourselves best for this tough opponent and I think we handled ourselves pretty well.”
Mendez, who did not play last season while pursuing volleyball, is “a heck of a football player,” Gardinera said. “He changes this team by himself. So, we’re starting to get used to him being really important and making huge plays. It’s great to have him back.”
