Scout is aiming for the Rivian R1T’s slice of the electric truck market with the Terra.
Scouts are known as the off-road SUVs built by International-Harvester from 1961 to 1980. Now, the Volkswagen Group iselectric Scout Terra truckScout said theof what the Terra will be when it arrives to take on the Rivian R1T. We compared the Traveler to the Rivian R1S separately, and here we examine how the specs of the Terra stack up with those of the R1T.The Rivian R1T entered production in 2021 and is on sale today.Scout is now taking $100 refundable deposits for the Scout Terra.
The Scout Terra will run a more robust 800-volt electrical architecture, and Scout projects a peak charging rate of 350 kw. It will use Tesla’s NACS connector.The Rivian R1T has seating for five passengers with two rows of seats. Scout Terras will have two electric motors, one per axle, and nearly 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Horsepower hasn’t been disclosed.The R1T features an air suspension and a trick hydraulic kinetic roll control system that replaces mechanical anti-roll bars.Rivian R1Ts can be optioned with 31-inch all-terrain tires.
