A man who struck a Scottish Power worker after stealing his work's van was jailed on Tuesday for 22 months.
Former car valeter Rennie ran over Frank McIntyre after dust from a building site in the city’s Alexandra Parade fell on his vehicle.The victim later had to have most of his spleen removed.He also admitted two car thefts and two charges of driving while disqualified. He left the keys in the vehicle and when he returned to retrieve items he found Rennie behind the wheel."However, he accelerated forward at speed and he had to swerve to avoid hitting barriers."Mr Watson said:"Rennie continued to move forward and Mr McGregor had to jump out the way to avoid being fully hit.
Rennie was able to drive a short distance into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Focus - which has been written off.
