A new study conducted by consumer watchdog Which? has named the best destinations across the UK for a short city break — and two Scottish spots appear in the top five.
New research has revealed the best city break destinations in the UK and one Scottish spot has beat out London for the number two position.
A new study carried out by consumer watchdog Which? saw almost 4,000 members of the public share their thoughts on the top cities across the UK for a quick getaway. Looking at the results, Edinburgh places second ahead of cities such as London and Belfast. With a wealth of iconic and historic attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, it is easy to see why the city was given full marks for its cultural sights. Meanwhile, it is also famous for its cobblestone streets and Georgian architecture.
Elsewhere, Glasgow also appears in the top five with an overall score of 76 per cent. Scotland's largest city received a four-out-of-five rating for food and drink, accommodation, cultural sights, shopping, crowds, and value for money, while the average price of a hotel was found to be £103.
