World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler will not be competing in The Sentry tournament due to a hand injury sustained while preparing Christmas dinner.

Scottie Scheffler , the world No. 1 golfer, will miss the PGA Tour's 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry , in January due to a hand injury sustained this week. On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scheffler suffered a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from broken glass. Small glass fragments required surgery, but he is expected to be back to full health in three to four weeks. The Sentry takes place from January 2nd to 5th at Kapalua Plantation Course in Maui, Hawaii.

Scheffler's next scheduled tournament is The American Express, from January 13th to 19th in La Quinta, California. Scheffler recently won the Hero World Challenge and the TOUR Championship in August, adding to his seven PGA Tour victories in 2024, including The Masters and The Players Championship. He was also named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third consecutive year
