Xander Schauffele is back on the PGA Tour, and Scottie Scheffler knows exactly what it's like to come back from injury.
Scottie Scheffler is at Bay Hill to defend his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The event will also serve as the stage for Xander Schauffele's return to the PGA Tour after two months on the sidelines due to injury, and Scheffler couldn't be happier about it.
The two-time Masters winner held a press conference from 'Arnie's Place' on Wednesday, where he stressed the importance of Schauffele being able to resume his PGA Tour season. Scheffler also reflected on the challenges of returning to competition after a long recovery from injury.'I think it's challenging any time you're coming off an injury,' Scheffler said. 'That first time you step back out inside the ropes, it's different playing competition tournament golf, and there's definitely challenges to it and it takes a little bit of time to get used to.''I'm a big routine guy and so being injured and being out of my routine was definitely an unusual thing. Xander's a guy that's fairly routine as well so I'm sure there will be some adjustments, but it's definitely good to have him back out playing.''Seeing guys get injured is never a fun thing to see and you just hope they get back to full strength as quickly as possible. Being injured is not a fun thing in this game.'Scheffler also had a delayed start to the current season due to an injury suffered last Christmas. The World No. 1 injured his hand with a glass and required surgery to remove shards of glass from the wound. As for Schauffele, he suffered a rib injury in the offseason that he underestimated and did not treat properly. This forced him to suspend his season after playing The Sentry to take care of his health. Both Scheffler and Schauffele enjoyed the best seasons of their respective careers in 2024. The former won nine times worldwide, including a major championship and the Olympics, while the latter won two majors.Scheffler has played in three events on the current PGA Tour season and has finished in the top 25 in all three, with two top-10s and one top-5. Schauffele, meanwhile, tied for 30th at The Sentry, his only start of the season so far.More Golf: Phil Mickelson Rips 'Low Class' Fred Couples for Brooks Koepka Return Take
