PGA Tour star and the world's No. 1 ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler was detained by Louisville Metro Police after he attempted to drive around the scene of a crash outside of Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, just hours before day two of the PGA Championship on Friday.

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler was detained by police Friday morning for not following police instructions during a traffic jam that followed a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian, ESPN reported.
Scheffler, 27, is charged with second-degree assault on a police officer - a felony in Kentucky - along with third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic, according to reports. His arrest record and Scheffler was attempting to drive around the scene of a crash outside the golf course, where traffic had been stopped due to a man being struck and killed by a shuttle bus around 5 a.m.,. A Louisville Metro Police Department officer instructed Scheffler to stop his car, but he continued to drive another 10 to 20 yards – at one point with an officer attached to the side of his vehicle. Scheffler stopped his car as he turned into the entrance of Valhalla.
About 20 to 30 seconds passed before Scheffler rolled down his window to speak with the officer. The officer reached inside Scheffler’s vehicle, grabbed his arm, pulled him out of the vehicle and pressed Scheffler against his car before placing him in handcuffs, per ESPN. “You need to get out of the way,” the LMPD officer told Darlington. “There’s nothing you can do. Scottie Scheffler is going to jail.”, was scheduled to tee off at 8:48 a.m. Friday for day two of the PGA Championship.
