Ana Mayers, 18, is now the second youngest astronaut to ever enter space after flying on the VSS Unity

A Scots student who was onboard Virgin Galactic’s first space tourism flight said she took her Aberdeen University badge on the mission. earlier today.

The teenager, who won a place on the mission alongside her mum, said she took a ring from someone who means a lot to her, photos of the most important people in her life, and a badge from her university in Aberdeen. When asked about how she felt before the once-in-a-lifetime trip, Ana said she had started to have second thoughts. She admitted: "Last night I was getting second thoughts a little bit. But, this morning I sat up in bed and felt 'I am ready'."

Mr Goodwin secured his seat on the rocket 18 years ago after buying a $250,000 ticket. He said he took a picture of his grandson Sebastian as well as four rings which belonged to his wife onboard with him. Speaking about the trip, he said: "Today has blown my mind away."
