Debbie Duffus, from Tomintoul, Moray, spent nine days in hospital where medics treated her for a punctured lung, ruptured spleen, liver damage, crushed ribs and blood loss.

A Scots farmer who almost died after being trampled by a cow has issued her heartfelt thanks to the heroes who saved her life. Debbie Duffus suffered multiple crush injuries, internal bleeding and a broken leg after the animal turned on her at the family farm near Tomintoul, Moray, last month.

“It’s just one of those things. She tossed me about a few times but I was conscious the whole time. I managed to crawl out of the field on my knees because she’d crushed the bottom of my leg and broke it. “I’d started getting very sweaty which is a sign of internal bleeding. But I knew I just had to wait for help to arrive so I tried to get as comfortable as possible by lying in the dog’s bed - just as well it’s a memory foam one.”

“I’m presuming when they were pumping it into me, it was coming out as fast. I spent nine days in the hospital. Even the doctors couldn’t believe how quickly I was coming round.
