Sarah McDiarmid has now raised a staggering £22,110 for a charity close to her heart – after initially aiming to raise £1,000.
A mum diagnosed with terminal cancer said she is “determined” to push forward research into the disease and help with advances in treatment to give herself and others like her some “hope”.
Her husband, Tommy, a postie in Lockerbie, wanted to do something positive for the charity Breast Cancer Now so the family decided to do a 10-mile sponsored walk and fun day. “A huge team of people helped to ensure the day ran smoothly and we were so grateful to everyone who helped including the staff and volunteers at the Johnstonebridge Centre, and family and friends who all contributed to making the event a huge success.
“We really hope that this money can be put to good use in supporting Breast Cancer Now to continue with their scientific research into kinder treatments and exploring future treatment options, which will give us more precious time as a family.”
