Tributes have been paid to Mr Sheffield by devastated friends and colleagues on social media. Nextgen Drainage Solutions, which was founded by the businessman, shared a statement on Facebook. Pal Matt Mroz added: “We always had big plans. I guess God’s was just a little bigger this time. Hopefully there’s an abundance of acres up there needing tile drainage, rest easy pal we’re gonna miss you.”
A statement from Toronto Police Service, who are treating the incident as a homicide, said: “On Monday, August 28, 2023, at approximately 11:25 p.m, police responded to a call for an assault just occurred in the Portland Street and King Street West area.
