The Jarvis family were at home on Saturday night, when they noticed smoke coming from upstairs.
A Scots family were forced to watch in horror from their garden after house fire left them with nothing but the clothes on their back.
Speaking to the Record, Jim explained: "I heard the fire alarm and at first thought it was a typical false alarm but then I smelled smoke and jumped to my feet and ran into the kitchen. At that point Nicola started screaming at me that it was upstairs so I followed the smoke and ran up and noticed it was coming from our bedroom.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent out nine appliances in total and battled the blaze through the night, evacuating nearby houses and trying to stop the fire from spreading. "But, they said the heat was so intense that they couldn't enter until they smashed our windows to try and reduce the temperature inside.
"We hadn't even been using the sauna for the past ten years after my daughter Chloe burnt herself on the stove. It had just been somewhere we used for storage but I think one of us must have bumped into the switch and turned it on by mistake earlier on in the day." My daughter cried through the night and it is them I feel for the most. They are so used to their routines and life being a certain way."
