Scotland's Townsend 'frustrated' by TMO failure to review head clash in South Africa loss

Townsend has called for more consistency from match officials

South Africa centre Jesse Kriel collided with Scotland No 8 Jack Dempsey in an incident after two minutes highlighted on social media, but the TMO Ben Whitehouse did not call for it to be shown to referee Angus Gardner.

Townsend said: “I saw it about two screens away [in the coaches’ box]. It did look like it was a head-on-head collision, and I was expecting the TMO to come in, to make there referee aware of that. Who knows if it would have changed the game?”
