How Steve Clarke's side perform in Nations League campaign could determine seeing for World Cup group
The Nations League could prove key to Scotland's World Cup hopes after a 'leaked' document showed how the European qualifiers will be seeded.
But this season's campaign could have a major bearing on who Scotland face for a place in USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026. A leaked FIFA document suggests that the top eight Nations League sides will be seeded in Pot 1, regardless of their FIFA World ranking, with the top four teams in the rankings also seeded, regardless of how they perform in the Nations League
"The allocation of teams to the five pots will be announced by FIFA after consultation with UEFA after the conclusion of the UNL league phase on 19 November 2024 and ahead of the EQ draw. The following rules apply:
