The Manchester United man looked to have given Steve Clarke's men a dream lead but it was ruled out.
Michael Stewart insists Scotland deserved clarity from UEFA over Scott McTominay’s hugely controversial disallowed goal after claiming the commentary team were told it was ruled out for a foul by Jack Hendry - only to then be told it was for offside.
Jack Hendry was initially thought to have fouled Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon and Viaplay co-commentator Stewart described that as “absolutely ludicrous”. However, it was later claimed that was ruled out for offside and Stewart said: “I can’t help but look upon the disallowed goal as such a huge turning point. It’s a goal. Even if it’s offside, it comes down to has he affected Simon. He’s not touched the ball. It’s not a case of offside and offside alone.

And if you look at how the referee has given it. The delivery from Scott McTominay was incredible. It doesn’t matter if Jack Hendry is there - Simon can’t get that ball."
The game was deadlocked when McTominay struck and Spain rubbed salt into their wounds when Alvaro Morata netted at the other end. Initially, when he thought the decision was for a foul - and it has yet to be confirmed it wasn’t - Stewart fumed during commentary: “That is absolutely ludicrous.
