Kyle Steyn makes his first start in place of Darcy Graham, while Chris Harris and Rory Sutherland also return to the first XV
Chris Harris returns to the XV at No 13 alongside Sione Tuipulotu, who will line up for a fifth consecutive start, in the centre spots, while Rory Sutherland makes only his second national team start in 19 months to take Pierre Schoeman’s place in the front-row, beside tighthead Zander Fagerson and hooker George Turner.
Sutherland, 31, had previously fallen down the pecking order for Scotland since his involvement with the British and Irish Lions two years ago, while Harris also toured South Africa with the Lions in 2021 and makes just his second start of the year, replacing Huw Jones who drops to the bench. The final alteration to Townsend’s starters sees Scott Cummings join Richie Gray in the second row, ousting Grant Gilchrist.
Captain Jamie Ritchie , Rory Darge and No 8 Jack Dempsey make up an unchanged back row for Scotland’s pack, while Finn Russell and Ben White remain the half-back partnership of choice for the Scots. Scrum-half George Horne and hooker Ewan Ashman are both on the bench after missing the 18-3 defeat against the Springboks with concussion.12. Sione Tuipulotu 2. George Turner 7. Rory Darge – vice-captain 19. Sam Skinner
