A rapist who faked his own death in a bid to evade justice for his sickening sex crimes will be featured in a true crime documentary this week. Kim Avis, 60, subjected women and children to a decade-long campaign of abuse in the Highlands. Avis, who also went by the name Kim Gordon, was well known in Inverness as a busker and is thought to have moved to the city in the 1980s. But he had a darker side and faced a series of charges for sex crimes against women and girls between 2006 and 2016.
But with his trial looming, he fled across the Atlantic and faked his own death, initially being treated as a missing person before his sordid past came to light. He was eventually arrested, returned to Scotland, and jailed. Now, BBC Disclosure is highlighting Avis' case in their latest documentary, Dead Man Running.
