Kellie Spooner from the Aberlour Hotel in Banffshire walked away with both prizes in the Cullen Skink World Championships.
It sees professional and amateur chefs compete to cook up the tastiest version of the traditional Scottish soup made from smoked haddock, milk, potato and onion.
Kellie walked away from the championships held in the home of the dish – Cullen, Banffshire – with two prizes, for traditional recipe and “with-a-twist”. Her secret in the second contest was the addition of haggis and black pudding bonbons and deep-fried capers to the age-old recipe. Kellie said: “I am so chuffed. Enjoy cooking the skink and just do whatever you want to do.”
Competitors had 45 minutes to create their dishes, which were judged at the Seafield Arms Hotel in Cullen. Spectators were able to vote for people’s choice winners, crowning Alison Taylor in the traditional section and Kai-Uwe Stutzkeitz for his wild garlic pesto twist.Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here.
