There are two big Cape schools derbies taking place before Saturday’s Vodacom United Rugby Championship semi-final in Cape Town, including the Premier Interschools match between Bishops and Rondebosch.
On Saturday, one of South Africa’s oldest schools rivalries will resume when Bishops College and Rondebosch Boys’ High face each other for the 198th time in their history.The two schools are a mere 400m apart, and while Rondebosch have won 77 games it is Bishops that dominate this fixture with them reaching 100 wins after the first encounter in 1908. Bishops have won this match 101 times, and there have been 19 draws.
That is not the only big schools game taking place in Cape Town though, as Wynberg will be facing SACS in the other local derby. In Riversdale, Oakdale will celebrate their Akkerfees by hosting Paarl Gimnasium, while Boland Landbou take on Paarl Boys High.Western Cape
