At Goodwyn Middle School in Montgomery, School Resource Officer Renelle Cargill Green is the first line of defense for students and staff at the school.

For many parents and students, seeing an SRO in the building can help ease anxiety and safety concerns, especially when it’s a familiar face. This school resource officer has been with Montgomery Public Schools for 24 years. She’s worked in several different schools and even at MPS’ Central Office protecting generations of students.

With decades of experience, she admits a lot has changed in the world and in Montgomery in recent years. She said SROs are needed now more than ever.
