The former school could be turned into apartments

Cole Street Primary in Birkenhead, near to Birkenhead Park, was closed by Wirral Council in 2011 because of falling numbers and its 113 pupils were transferred to nearby Cathcart Street school. Plans were submitted in 2015 to turn the school into apartments but they never materialised.

Listed with a guide price of between £850,000-£1.1m, a fully serviced show flat has been created to show potential buyers what can be achieved throughout the development. The Cole Street school building was erected in 1928-29 and according to the listing, pre-dates the use of RAAC in UK public buildings, which did not commence until the 1950s.

"Once completed, these apartments, many of which will have gardens, terraces or balconies, together with views from the upper floor across to the Liverpool skyline, will be ideal both for owner occupation and investment with potential to generate a good rental income and yield."
